Why is the American flag called Old Glory?
D) is incorrect. The name was coined by Captain William Driver, a shipmaster of Salem, Massachusetts, in 1831. He was presented a flag after one of his voyages. Upon unfurling it, the captain exclaimed, "Old Glory!".
